Joseph A. Blackmon, M.D.
Originally from Paducah, Kentucky, Dr. Joseph Blackmon obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Louisville, where he was a Deanβs Scholar and recipient of multiple academic scholarships. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree with High Distinction from the University of Kentucky and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Blackmon completed his Dermatology residency at the University of Kansas, serving as Chief Resident, and went on to pursue advanced fellowship training in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology (MSDO) through an ACGME-accredited program under Dr. Heidi Donnelly in Dayton, Ohio.
He is Double Board-Certified in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery and has performed over 26,000 Mohs micrographic surgery cases. His surgical expertise includes skin grafts, advanced reconstructive surgery, and the treatment of high-risk skin cancers such as melanoma.
In addition to his clinical excellence, Dr. Blackmon has authored more than 10 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to book chapters, and presented nationally on dermatologic surgery and oncology. He is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), and an Associate Member of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS).
Dr. Blackmon has been recognized with multiple honors, including the distinction of Castle Connolly βTop Doctor.β Known for his meticulous surgical technique and compassionate, patient-centered care, he is proud to bring world-class skin cancer treatment back to his hometown. Since joining Paducah Dermatology, he has been dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients across Western Kentucky and the surrounding region.
