About Our Expertise
At Paducah Dermatology Surgery Center, Dr. Joseph Blackmon and our surgical team bring together extensive expertise in dermatology, dermatopathology, Mohs surgery, and advanced reconstruction. This unique combination allows us to examine, diagnose, remove, and reconstruct skin cancers with a level of precision and care that few centers can provide.
A Team Dedicated to You
Our team — including nurses, physician assistants, surgical technicians, and support staff — shares a single mission: to guide and support patients facing skin cancer with skill, compassion, and respect. Each day, we strive to deliver care marked not only by surgical excellence, but also by kindness and a personal commitment to every patient’s well-being.
Focused on Skin Cancer Care
Because our center focuses exclusively on the treatment of skin cancer, we are equipped to manage even complex cases in delicate and highly visible areas of the face and body. Using the proven Mohs technique, Dr. Blackmon achieves the highest cure rates for common cancers such as basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, while also providing advanced surgical care for melanoma and other uncommon skin tumors.
Two Facilities, One Seamless Experience
Surgery Center Clinic – Suite B
At our Clinic, patient comfort and convenience come first. This is where patients receive comprehensive dermatologic and skin cancer care, including:
- Mohs micrographic surgery for precise, tissue-sparing skin cancer removal
- Follow-up care and surveillance to ensure proper wound healing and skin health
When reconstruction is needed after Mohs, patients transition next door in the same building to our ASC for sterile surgical repair.
Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) – Suite A
Our ACHC-Accredited and Medicare-Certified Ambulatory Surgery Center provides a highly controlled, sterile environment that exceeds the standards of a typical medical office. Here, our surgical team performs:
- Mohs reconstructive surgery for optimal healing after skin cancer removal
- Excision of benign and malignant lesions
Some common options include:
- Closing the wound with stitches
- Covering the wound using a flap of skin from an area close to the wound
- Using a skin graft to cover the wound
- Bandaging the wound temporarily and scheduling reconstructive surgery for a later date
This enhanced surgical setting reduces the risk of complications and contributes to infection rates far below national averages—helping patients achieve excellent outcomes with minimal downtime.
By combining the Clinic in Suite B with our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Suite A,
we offer patients a seamless experience—from diagnosis and treatment to reconstruction—all under one roof.
